Policy Forum is pleased to announce the appointment of Christina Kamili Ruhinda, the Executive Director of Tanzania Network of Legal Aid (TANLAP) as the Board Chairperson. Ms. Ruhinda has over 10 years of experience in the Legal Aid sub-sector, Human Rights, Gender, Governance, Justice and Rule of Law, Election Observation, Networking, Programme Management and Capacity Development.

She has, inter alia, been engaged in the identification of potential issues that have had an effect on access to Justice in Tanzania; analyzing human rights abuses and proposing possible reforms; conducting assessment of Tanzania’s legislations, practice and capacities in respect to regional, continental and international human rights standards – treaty obligations and compliance. Christina Kamii is a Lawyer, holding a master’s degree in governance and Leadership.

Other newly elected board members are Badru Juma Rajabu and Dominic Ndunguru from organisations Restless Development Tanzania and Open Mind Tanzania, respectively. Restless Development Tanzania has been working for youth-led development in Tanzania for over 25 years, supporting the journey of young persons to become leaders and helping them multiply that leadership in their communities. Open Mind Tanzania is a youth-led and youth-focused Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) dealing with opening minds of youth through active participatory advocacy and capacity building in areas of legal, social, and economic empowerment to enable them become masters of their development and main contributors to the well-being of their society and country.

 The departing board members are Donati Senzia from PELUM Tanzania, Adv Anna Henga from Legal and Human Rights Centre (LHRC), Moses Kimaro from Wajibu Institute of Public Accountability and and Angela Makota from Save the Children.

Thereupon, the Policy Forum’s board of directors will include Ms Christina Kamili from TANLAP as the chairperson, Badru Juma Rajabu from Restless Development Tanzania (board member), Dominic Ndunguru from Open Mind Tanzania (board member), Fatma Kauga from Shule Direct (board member and treasurer), Peter Matonyi from Community Active in Development Association (board member) and Jovina Nawenzake from Action Aid Tanzania (board member). A board member representing the international category will be appointed in the near future.
