Social Accountability Monitoring Pilot Project in Mwanza underway

Policy Forum will again be in Mwanza on the week of the 1st to 6th September 2008 for the data collection and documentation phase of the Social Accountability Monitoring (SAM) implementation plan. This exercise focuses on the 2007/08 budget year. The Mwanza Policy Initiative (MPi) is going to collect and analyse the documents and data and compare its planning processes to implementation and determine the accountability status of Mwanza City Council for the year 2007/08. Policy Forum Position Paper on the Constituency Development Fund

On 22 July 2008, Policy Forum was invited to send members to meet with a subcommittee of the Parliamentary House Business Committee to express its views regarding a Constituency Development Fund likely to be legislated by Parliament during 2008. This meeting was called immediately following a one-week study tour undertaken by Policy Forum Members from 12 to 20 July 2008 to Mombasa, Kenya to observe how the CDF is implemented and monitored in Bahari Constituency, Kilifi, Mombasa.

In collaboration with Mwanza Policy Initiative (MPI), Policy Forum is this week organising a social accountability monitoring workshop in Mwanza for Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).

The workshop, which runs from the 28th to 1st of July, is part of Policy Forum's objective of enhancing the capability of CSOs to understand, monitor and effectively engage with and influence national and local policy processes.

Policy Forum in Mombasa for Social Audit field visit

This month, 10 of Policy Forum's members and staff will be attending a week-long field visit to Kenya to participate in a social audit exercise from the 12th to 19th of July 2008. Social Auditing is a method of monitoring accountability of public institutions through the verification of public service delivery projects and programmes and their implementation at the community, constituency or local authority level.
