Tanzania Gender Networking Programme (TGNP) and Feminist Activist Coalition (FemAct) are pleased to announce the 10th Gender Festival (Tamasha la Jinsia) which will focus on Land, Labour and Livelihoods within the broad theme of Gender, Democracy and Development. The Festival will take place from the 13th – 16th September.

Working Paper 1-Seizing and Stretching Participatory Space:Civil Society Participation in Tanzania’s Policy Processes

This paper takes as its starting point the perspective that civil society participation in governance—particularly policy processes such as the Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers (PRSPs) and related policy developments—largely takes on a mere consultative rather than a transformative role when initiated and driven by government or donors.

As part of growth, JUKWAA LA KATIBA TANZANIA has set up independent Secretariat to provide day-to-day implementation of activities and programes within JUKWAA’s mandate of (1) enhancing Constitutional Literacy and awareness; (2) Mobilizing broad based public participation in Constitution Making Process and (3) Ensuring the full implementation of the Provisions of the New Constitution to be promulgated.

Curbing Capital Flight from Africa

The amount of money leaving developing countries as illicit capital flight per year is 10 times higher than the total global foreign aid and constitutes an immense amount of loss in state income. If capital flight would stop, the Tanzanian state finances would be enough to meet the Millennium Development Goals in the country.

Women’s Legal Aid Centre (WLAC) which is a private voluntary non-governmental, nonpartisan and non-profit making organization. It was registered in 1994 under the Company’s Act Chapter 212 of Revised Edition 2002 as a company without shares limited by guarantee. The WLAC is both a legal and community based organization.
