Abstract:
The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has received a grant from the World Bank toward the cost of the Implementation of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative Project, and intends to apply part of the proceeds to eligible payments for consulting services to prepare legal framework for the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative [EITI].
On 18th November, 2008 the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania announced its decision to join the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative [EITI] in order to increase transparency and accountability in the national extractive industries. The Government has committed itself to fostering good governance, and strengthening the contribution of extractive industries to the economic development of Tanzania.The EITI is an initiative that is underpinned by actions that require transparency and accountability.Therefore a legal framework is being developed as an integral part of EITI implementation in Tanzania to enhance transparency, dissemination, dialogue, debate and, ultimately, compliance of Tanzania with EITI requirements.
The Ministry of Energy and Minerals through TEITI Secretariat hereby invites eligible individual consultants to indicate their interest in preparing a legal framework for the Tanzania Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative. Interested applicants must provide information indicating their ability to perform the services detailing ability and experience in similar assignments.
A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank's Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers [current edition]- selection by IC method.
Expressions of interest [in sealed envelopes clearly marked "TEITI/001/2010/2011/HQ/C/01 - Expression of Interest - preparation of legal framework for the Tanzania Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative"] should be submitted in one original and four copies to the address below.
