TRAINING ON DATA EXPLORATION AND RESAMPLING METHODS IN APPLIED STATISTICS

8 August 2008Beginning and junior researchers may apply for training on data exploration and resampling methods in applied statistics. Participants will learn how to use data descriptions as a tool for discovery (hypothesis seeking). Course content includes:
· Describing a distribution
· Comparing distributions
· Describing a conditional distribution
· Diagnostic analysis
· Assessing sampling uncertainty from data
· The principle of plausible inference: description as analysis
Applicants should have a good academic background in statistics and quantitative methods, and be conversant with STATA.
